SWCC Presents Dr. Jon Bryan – Geologist and Author

Do you wonder why our beaches are so white? And why is some of the sand black? Get the answers! The South Walton Community Council will sponsor a public forum at the Coastal Branch Library, 437 Greenway Trail. All are invited. Dr. Bryan will be discussing the geology of the Choctawhatchee Basin region, including a review of beach sands along the coast of Walton County and Northwest Florida. Dr. Bryan is a Professor of Geology at Northwest Florida State College, where he has taught since 1993. He holds a doctorate in Geological Sciences from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, a Master of Science degree in Geology from the University of Florida, and a Bachelor of Science degree in geology from Florida State University. He is the author of the book Roadside Geology of Florida.
